Strategic collaboration between two powerhouse initiatives will help further secure the global silicon industry and connected technology

NEWPORT BEACH, California – October 13, 2020 – The ioXt Alliance, the Global Standard for IoT Security, announced today that the Alliance and PSA Certified will collaborate to help improve silicon security. Together, the two will facilitate greater industry alignment on device certification and ensure connected products are protected all the way from silicon-level through to end products and services.

Strong device security needs to be built upon secure silicon. By combining efforts, the ioXt Alliance and PSA Certified provide the full confidence required in product security. PSA Certified offers a security framework and multi-level evaluation scheme that is driven by a baseline of security for connected devices and is underpinned by the Root of Trust -- or a set of implicitly trusted functions that the system or device can use to ensure security.

ioXt has selected PSA Certified as a foundational Root of Trust scheme and will recognize it in its product evaluations. This enhances the work that ioXt has and continues to accomplish through specific device certifications and will further ensure that devices entering the market have the correct security functionality at their core.

“Securing IoT devices from inception is one of our core principles at the ioXt Alliance and that mission closely aligns with the great work that PSA Certified -- co-founded by Arm -- has and continues to accomplish,” said Brad Ree, CTO of the ioXt Alliance. “By working with the organization, we will look to expand our reach into the global silicon industry and strengthen our resources that bake security into all facets of a connected device. We’re excited to partner with PSA Certified to achieve this and cultivate greater transparency and trust around the connected products made, sold, and used today.”

“As the number of connected devices we interact with continues to grow, comprehensive security must be designed in from the ground up and simple to deploy,” said Andy Rose, chief system architect and fellow at Arm. "PSA Certified is an industry wide initiative focused on certifying a hardware Root of Trust and supported by the world’s leading semiconductor companies. By partnering with the ioXt Alliance, we will unlock even more ways to simplify and enhance device security for the IoT ecosystem.”
